The Inner Crab

Humor Writing

Naked - This story imagines what a conversation might be like between a man and a woman if the conventions for polite conversation didn't keep us from speaking our minds.

Nature's Liver - A Kidney Pie for Kanda - These two pieces were written in the early 90s. They are an homage to Woody Allen's "A Guide to Some of the Lesser Ballets," from the book "Without Feathers." It should be noted that I may or may not have been stoned when I wrote these.

Computer Classes - Not long ago, at the suggestion of a friend, I wrote a humor piece about my experiences teaching computer classes. It was to be the first in a long series of very funny columns which would eventually be picked up by a newspaper syndicate, resulting in great wealth and personal fame. That didn't happen.

The Mad Man - This story is just about done, and I'm very pleased with it. It's kind of long, but what it lacks in shortness, it makes up for in length. If you like well-crafted and witty social satire, you'll only be slightly disappointed.

No Apologies - This piece is a work in progress. The premise is that God decides to hold a pre-Judgement Day, to give to everyone who needs it a chance to apologize.

The War - This story was written in the weeks leading up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Some would say it contains both sacrilege and treason, which pleases me to no end.

The Pickup Artist - This is another story from the early 90s, sort of experimental. It's interesting (to me) to re-read some of my earlier stuff, because my writing style has changed over the years. Whether that's a good thing is a question for the ages. The answer, by the way, is yes.
